Your Local Candidate

Our Goals are Your Goals
We have the same goals as our friends, family, and neighbours in Vaughan-Woodbridge.
We want safe streets, low crime rates, and to feel good about the future of our community.
The good news is that we've seen through facts and data that crime rates in our riding are trending downward. But, we know that more work needs to be done to acheive our goals.
That's why a Mark Carney-led government will hire thousands of new RCMP and CBSA officers to crack down on illegal drugs and guns coming from the United States, increase funding to prosecute violent criminal gangs, make bail laws stricter for home invasions and car thefts, protect our children, and shield Canadians from gun violence.
We will also protect community spaces so that Canadians can live their lives in safety and security.
A vote for Francesco Sorbara and Mark Carney is a vote for your safety and your future!
Together we will protect and build Canada strong!

Tax cuts already helping Canadians
Just over three weeks ago, on April 1, the divisive individual carbon tax was put down to zero per cent as the Mark Carney-led government listened to the will of the people.
That immediately resulted in fuel savings, and it is noticeable by everyone needing to fill their gas tanks to live their lives. Canadians on average are saving 18 cents/litre on the price of gas.
And our friends, families, and neighbours in Vaughan-Woodbridge and across Canada still received the carbon tax rebate this month as promised.
Whether it's getting the kids to school and other activities, travelling to and for work, or simply living a busy life, spending less on fuel keeps more money in your pocket.
That was only the first step. The next step we will do is eliminate the carbon tax on individuals altogether through legislation.
If elected, a Mark Carney-led government will also deliver a middle class tax cut that will save a two-income household up to $825 a year.
We have listened to what you need and want, and we will continue to do so.
A vote for Francesco Sorbara and Mark Carney is a vote for your future.

Health care is a Canadian right
Unlike some countries, health care in Canada is a right for all of us.Protecting that right and increasing access to quality health care is at the forefront of Mark Carney’s plans for the nation we love.
We will stand and defend the Canada Health Act to build a system we can be proud of.
We will return to the values that led to the development of the national healthcare system: free of charge, fair, universal, and accessible.
We will protect dental care and pharmacare - which the other guys want to cut - as we know how vital they are to our communities.
We will add thousands of new doctors to Canada’s health-care system by increasing medical school and residency spaces; building new medical schools; making it easier for internationally trained professionals to practice in Canada; recruiting qualified doctors through a new global recruitment strategy; making it easier to set up clinics in new communities; and investing $4 billion to construct and renovate community health-care infrastructure.
We will also provide personal support workers (PSWs) with up to $1,100 per year in tax credits, and support training for nurses, PSWs, and teachers by expanding the union training and innovation program.
A vote for Francesco Sorbara and Mark Carney is a vote for yours and your family’s health.
Together we will protect and build Canada Strong.

The CBC has long been a source for news, Canadian programming, and showing live events featuring homegrown athletes in a variety of sports that don’t get mainstream coverage.
There are some that would like to see it abolished and with it the very fabric of what makes our nation the amazing place it is.
We believe that the CBC/Radio-Canada is an essential part of Canada’s identity and we plan to strengthen its mandate and funding.
Among other plans, this includes developing a governance plan with CBC/Radio-Canada to improve accountability, empower leadership, streamline processes, and tap into the institution’s innovative spirit; enhance local news with more local bureaus and reporters, so that all Canadians have access to timely, relevant, and reliable news; fully equipping them to combat disinformation, so that Canadians have a news source they know they can trust; and, providing an initial $150 million funding increase, while directing CBC/Radio-Canada to develop a strategic plan consistent with this new mandate.
A vote for Francesco Sorbara and Mark Carney is a vote to protect our national identity and to build Canada strong.
A Real Plan To Protect Our Community

Two things we know are true. One is that crime statistics are trending downward in Vaughan-Woodbridge. Two is that there is still work to be done.
That's why Mark Carney's plan to fight crime, protect Canadians, and build safer communities is essential for our future.
The plan includes vital steps towards making our neighbourhoods safer, both in the short and long term.
Tougher gun laws with more police oversight and less gun lobby influence.
Stricter bail laws for home invasions and car theft.
Recruit 2,000 more RCMP and CBSA officers to secure our borders and streets.
Crack down on cyber and sex crimes - particularly introducing legislation protect children from online exploitation and sextortion.
Make it a crime to obstruct access to schools, places of worship and community centre.
We heard your calls for action and came up with a real plan. Now it's time to help us implement it.
Vote for Francesco Sorbara and Mark Carney to fight crime, protect Canadians, and build safer communities.

Boosting Our Automotive Industry

We know the tariffs being imposed by President Trump are already hurting many of our family, friends, and neighbours.
This is especially true in the automotive industry, which has seen a lot of volatility and uncertainty set in since the tariff war began.
That’s why it’s imperative for us to support our Canadian auto workers and protect them against tariffs.
Our plan to help grow the auto industry includes creating a $2 billion strategic response fund; build an “All-In-Canada” network for auto manufacturing component parts; maximize Canada’s steel, aluminum, and critical minerals; and leverage government funding to prioritize and procure Canadian–built vehicles.
We want to put Canada back in a leadership role in the auto industry. This election, it’s vital to vote for Francesco Sorbara and Mark Carney: we will build Canada strong.
Leading the World in Energy
The energy sector is a vital part of the Canadian economy, supporting 700,000 jobs across the nation.
Ensuring that Canada not only maintains its incredible energy production, but also becomes the world’s leading energy superpower is one of the most important goals being set by Mark Carney and Francesco Sorbara.
Being a leading energy superpower means more jobs for Canadians as well as more opportunity to tap into the global market.
The comprehensive approach to achieve this lofty goal includes three main objectives. These are energy security, trade diversification, and long-term competitiveness.
A Mark Carney-led Liberal government will kickstart the clean energy supply chain by investing in critical minerals; get clean energy projects built quickly across Canada; and secure Canada’s energy and electricity sovereignty.
A vote for Mark Carney and Francesco Sorbara is a vote to build Canada strong.

New Benefit to Improve Skills

Let’s face it, we will need skilled workers to help us build Canada strong.|
That’s why Mark Carney and Francesco Sorbara want to provide a new upskilling and training benefit for workers in the middle of their careers who need to access new skills training for their career stability and success.
The new benefit will provide up to $15,000 for workers in priority sectors such as manufacturing, health care, construction, A.I. and technology.
We will also be partnering with labour, employers, and industry to support employee retention and upskilling within their companies.
This builds on our commitment to cover apprenticeship training costs of up to $8,000 for skilled trade workers.
There is only one choice this election: a vote for Mark Carney and Francesco is a vote to build Canada strong.
Vote on Campus

Exploring Our Nature, Art, and History

Canada has long been home to unmatched natural beauty that spans coast-to-coast.
Indeed there are national and provincial parks that are just a quick drive (or even a train ride) away from our riding of Vaughan-Woodbridge.
The Liberal government will reduce prices for camping sites in national parks for all Canadians from June to August, to help families explore our amazing nation.
Plus, we have amazing national galleries and museums that will entertain and educate our children.
Of course, the cost to see these amazing sites can at times be prohibitive. We know that and we hear you.
To help our families provide these essential cultural and natural experiences, Mark Carney announced the Canada Strong Pass to provide children and youth under the age of 18 with free access to national galleries and museums as well as free seats on VIA Rail (when they travel with their parents).
The pass will be available from June to August 2025.
We are also going to introduce greatly discounted fares and access for young Canadians aged 18 to 24.
We are also planning to work with provincial governments to provide similar access to provincial museums and galleries.
A vote for Mark Carney and Francesco Sorbara is a vote to build Canada strong.
Getting Tougher on Crime
We know that overall crime numbers are dropping in our riding of Vaughan-Woodbridge, but we hear our friends and neighbours loud and clear when they say more needs to be done.
To tackle drug and human trafficking, foreign interference, cybercrime, and the organized criminal gangs that steal cars, we will be recruiting 1,000 more RCMP personnel, plus creating a new academy and increasing pay for recruits.
To keep our border secure, we will train 1,000 new CBSA officers to crack down on the smuggling of drugs, including fentanyl, illegal guns, and stolen cars in and out of our country: we will also add new border scanners, drones and K-9 teams, to better target suspicious shipments at our land borders, ports, and railyards.
We are also going to invest in our first responders such as firefighters, paramedics, border services officers, Parliamentary protection officers, and search and rescue, and increase funding for their mental health supports.
The good news is our data shows crime rates have dropped. With our new commitments, they can be even lower.
Make sure to help us protect our communities with a vote for Mark Carney and Francesco Sorbara!

Keeping our streets safe

The longstanding Canadian traditions of hunting and shooting must continue to be respected, while acknowledging the need to keep assault-style guns off our streets.
We know many responsible gun owners are out there and we appreciate that they practice lawful hunting and shooting.
Still, we need to be diligent with respect to those who don’t abide by the law. This is why we will automatically revoke gun licenses for anyone convicted of violent offences; legislate a requirement for the RCMP to classify new gun models entering the market, instead of the gun registry; increase funding to forensic and ballistic laboratories to better track down guns used in crime; as well as take other vital measures in this fight against gun violence.
This election, a vote for Mark Carney and Francesco Sorbara is a vote to fight against gun violence.
Investing in Efficient Homes
Our Build Canada Homes plan is also making it easier to build smarter and more sustainably.
On top of the over $35 billion in funding to help get 500,000 new homes a year built, a Mark Carney-led government will also invest $1 billion to power more homes with efficient and affordable electric heating and cooling and make homes more resilient to extreme weather.
This includes funding home retrofits and lowering utility bills while making it easier for low- and middle-income households, including renters, to adopt heat pumps and energy efficiency upgrades including insulation upgrades, heat pump installation, and window replacements;
Lowering household risks to floods and wildfires, directly helping Canadian families to protect against floods, wildfires, and other extreme weather events. This will help with funding oriented towards adaptation measures such as repairing or replacing your roof, installing a sump pump, or sealing cracks in your foundations;
and, we will use a reformed carbon credit market to finance these climate conscious choices, meaning that big polluters, not taxpayers, will pay.
A vote for Mark Carney and Francesco Sorbara is a vote for the future of Canada.

Caring for our Seniors
We have already helped seniors across the nation by restoring the age of eligibility for Old Age Security (OAS) and the Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS) to 65 years from 67 years;
increasing the GIS for single seniors by up to $947 annually; boosting the OAS by 10% for seniors 75 and over; and increasing the GIS by $500 for single seniors and $750 for couples, starting at age 65.
These actions reversed Conservative policies that took away much needed financial support for our senior community.
Protecting our seniors and our future - we’ll all be seniors one day - is vital.
That's why we are also going to protect retirement savings by reducing the minimum amount that must be withdrawn from a Registered Retirement Income Fund (RRIF) by 25% for one year. This will allow Canadians seniors more flexibility in choosing when to draw from their retirement savings; and, increase the Guaranteed Income Supplement by 5% for one year, providing up to $652 more to low-income seniors, tax-free.
This is the most consequential election of our time: remember that on election day and cast a vote for Mark Carney and Francesco Sorbara.

Support for Skilled Labour and Apprenticeships

The work of bricklayers, crane operators, welders, and others are essential in building the future of Canada – and a Mark Carney government will invest in their futures.
Today, April 5, Mark Carney announced a plan to cover apprenticeship training costs of up to $8,000 and to create more training opportunities in the skilled trades, so more Canadian workers can join these professions and secure higher-paying careers.
We will also increase access to union-led training initiatives by doubling the funding of the Union Training and Innovation Program from $25 million to $50 million annually;
Establish a new $20 million capital funding stream for colleges to support new training spaces for apprenticeships;
Uphold the Apprenticeship Service program to support employers in hiring new apprentices in Red Seal trades, with up to $10,000 for eligible employers for each new apprentice hired;
Increase labour mobility for skilled trades people between provinces and territories through the vital work of breaking down internal trade barriers; and
Expand the Labour Mobility Tax Deduction to ensure workers who travel more than 120 km from their home to a job site can deduct more of their expenses, and commit to significantly increasing the per-year tax deduction limit.
A vote for Mark Carney and Francesco Sorbara is a vote for our future!
Investing in Business

The tariffs from President Trump are causing a lot of uncertainty and stress for Canadian businesses.
Mark Carney and Francesco Sorbara know we need to find new ways to stabilize and grow Canada’s economy. This includes creating better trade options within Canada.
That’s why on July 1, we will put forth legislation to remove all federal barriers to interprovincial trade and labor mobility, creating a more open and competitive Canadian market.
Combined with cutting taxes for the middle class,.canceling the capital gains inclusion rate increase and raising the Lifetime Capital Gains Exemption, we are listening to our constituents and acting on their needs.
These tax cuts are immediate actions to lower costs, ensuring families can better afford essentials like groceries, gas, and housing.
A vote for Mark Carney and Francesco Sorbara is a vote to build Canada strong.
Facts over slogans - Stats don't lie
Despite attempts by the other guys to mislead voters, crime is down in our riding. The statistics don't lie. Check out the year over year and six year comparison numbers in the slideshow galleries below.

We Care About Your Family

We know how hard inflation has hit many families over the last few years. That’s why we raised the Child Care Benefit in recent years to meet the rising cost of living.
Hard working families throughout our community of
Vaughan-Woodbridge are getting extra help through this tax-free monthly boost.
As well, we know that the $10-a-day childcare program is essential support for working families as they navigate careers and raise their children.
I voted for this program because I know how much it helps. Pierre Poilievre voted against it.
We will continue to provide valuable support to families in Vaughan-Woodbridge and throughout Canada.
A vote for Mark Carney and Francesco Sorbara is a vote for your families.
Canada Strong For Agriculture!

In the face of President Trump’s tariffs, the Liberal Party of Canada today announced its plan to protect farmers, ranchers, and agrifood workers and strengthen Canada’s food sector across Canada.
“Canada’s dairy sector is off the table in any negotiations with President Trump,” said Mark Carney, Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada.
We will implement policy measures to defend supply management, invest in businesses and workers, and cut red tape.
Through these measures we will protect Canada’s commitment to supply management and supply-managed sectors such as dairy, poultry, and eggs;
Make permanent the doubling of the revenue protection for farmers under the AgriStability Program, from $3 million to $6 million per farm, in the case of significant revenue drops caused by the impacts of tariffs, extreme weather events, and other external shocks;
Build more domestic processing capacity, including food processing capacity in rural and remote areas, with a new $200 million Domestic Food Processing Fund;
Increase support for farmers, ranchers, and producers to access new markets for their food products with an additional $30 million in the AgriMarketing Program;
Increase the help for farmers and ranchers to buy new, more efficient farm equipment with a $30 million top up to the Agriculture Clean Technology Program; and,
Double the loan guarantee limit, from $500,000 to $1 million, of the Canadian Agricultural Loans Act program and expand terms by 5-10 years.
A Mark Carney-led government will stand strong against President Trump’s tariffs, create new jobs, cut taxes for the middle class, and build the fastest growing economy in the G7. Vote for Mark Carney and Francesco Sorbara: We will build Canada strong!
We Care About Dental Care
Our dental care program has been a huge help to millions of people across Canada.
Here at home in Vaughan-Woodbridge, the program has already seen 30,000 people receive the care they need and deserve.
Starting May 1, up to 75,000 more people will be covered in Vaughan-Woodbridge who don’t have dental insurance.
I voted for the dental care program, Pierre Poilievre voted against it and questioned whether you needed the plan in the first place. He pointed out that workplace plans were more than suitable - completely ignoring anyone who may not be covered through work.
The original dental care plan and now the expansion is being applauded by the Canadian Dental Hygienists Association. said in a news release on Saturday that it "applauds" the federal government for expanding access to the dental care program.
"A population that enjoys good oral health eases the burden on the health care system thanks to a reduced need for emergency department and physician visits for urgent dental care," the association said in a news release.
Listening to the needs of Canadians and delivering the programs our communities need is why it’s vital to vote for Mark Carney and Francesco Sorbara.

Zero Carbon Tax

The people told us what they want, and we listened.
I have heard your frustrations with rising fuel costs and the impact of the consumer carbon tax. In one of my recent conversations with Mark Carney, he told me “I will listen to you because you listen to your constituents.”
In that conversation I explained we need to eliminate the consumer carbon tax; it’s hurting our families financially. He listened and the consumer carbon tax is now at zero. The full elimination of the tax will need to take place once we are elected, and legislation is passed.
The best part is that Canadians will still receive their Carbon Rebate as scheduled. Moving forward, instead of a carbon tax that hurts our communities, we will implement a system of incentives to reward Canadians for making greener choices, such as purchasing an energy efficient appliance, electric vehicle, or improved home insulation.
This is the type of government we need, one who listens to the people and uses forward thinking policies to benefit everyone.
A vote for Mark Carney and Francesco Sorbara is a vote for a better future.
Housing Help
The housing market has faced a lot of challenges in recent years. Mark Carney and Francesco Sorbara understand the housing needs of Canadians.
The new Liberal housing plan will create Build Canada Homes to double the pace of construction to almost 500,000 new homes a year.
The federal government will act as a developer to build affordable housing at scale, including on public lands; we will provide over $25 billion in financing to builders using Canadian technologies and resources affordably and sustainably; and we will provide $10 billion in low-cost financing and capital to affordable home builders.
To help first-time homebuyers, we will eliminate GST for first-time homebuyers on homes sold at or under $1 million. That means savings of up to $50,000 for members in our community and throughout Ontario.
But that’s just a couple of ideas to stimulate the housing market. We will also reward investment and incentivize growth in Canada by cancelling the capital gains inclusion rate increase and raising the Lifetime Capital Gains Exemption to $1.25 million.
By doing this, we are supporting builders and small businesses who drive our economy.

True Crime Statistics
Despite the propaganda and fear tactics being shared by candidates from the other side, our community in Vaughan-Woodbridge is not seeing crime rise.
It's actually the opposite. Crime rates in the City of Vaughan are down in many significant categories, including attempted murder, break and enter, auto theft,
"Crime trends are going down in Vaughan," says Inspector Carl Mattinen, York Regional Police.
Statistics comparing year over year numbers back this up (as of March 28, 2025).
Attempted Murder is down 100% - down to 0 from 6 incidents; Homicides are down 50% - only 1 compared to 2 last year; Weapons charges are down 57% - 18 compared to 42 last year; Break and Enters (commercial) are down 33% - 78 this year compared to 117 last year; Break and Enters (residential) are down 25% - 73 compared to 97 last year; Auto Theft is down 41% - 246 this year compared to 416 last year; and Robbery is down by 5% - 35 compared to 37 last year.
The statistics don't lie: crime is down in Vaughan and we want to keep it that way.
Make sure to vote for Francesco Sorbara and Mark Carney on election day - April 28th!
